Melissa Iorio

Melissa is the founder of Westchester Teacher, a learning resource serving Westchester and Connecticut. As a reading intervention specialist, Melissa is trained in the highly effective Orton-Gillingham method. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Fordham University and has a successful track record of 16 years teaching and tutoring children grades K-6. She prides herself on being an expert in helping struggling readers become proficient readers.

Westchester teacher is a privately owned company with highly skilled and certified educators who only specialize in reading. Every session is customized and thoroughly planned based on your child’s needs. We also believe in maintaining a strong connection to your child’s school. We periodically share reports with you and your child’s classroom teacher/s.

Orton- Gillingham is a highly effective, explicit, multisensory, structured approach to teaching children how to read, write, and spell. Orton- Gillingham approach is often used with the PAF program. For more information about PAF, visit https://www.pafprogram.com

Sessions can be 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or an hour depending your child’s needs.

Payment is received prior to the beginning of session. We accept cash, check, Venmo or Zelle.

Your session is very important to us! We understand that delays and incidents can occur in our everyday life. If you need to cancel or re-schedule your appointment, we ask you contact us 24hrs in advance. Appointments canceled within 24 hours will incur a charge of 50% of the service amount.
